Polymer is now available on github

Post by fsteinmetz »

I am happy to announce that Polymer is now available on github.
https://github.com/hygeos/polymer

This should facilitate the access to the software and the release of updates. In addition to this forum, issues can be posted on github.

That is great! It will also make it easier to read the code from several releases without the need to download and untar files.
Is there a prefered place to post issues?

This is great news, thanks a lot! It seems that the latest tagged release is v4.13, will there be a tag from now on whenever a new release of Polymer is made?

Another thing: currently, the LICENSE.txt has the following limitations:

Section 2
The User may use the
Software in its source code format for its own use, and may translate or modify
the Software or incorporate them into other software. The User may not,
however, transfer
or sublicense the Software to any third party, in whole or in
part, in any form, whether modified or unmodified.
Section 10
The User shall not disclose or copy to a third party the Software or any part
thereof.
I think these limitations mean that the GitHub repository must not be forked and there is no reasonable way to make pull requests. Is this intended?

Thanks for your comments. I have pushed some former git tags. There will tags for further releases, but the pressure on release is now lower with the availability on github.
The preferred place to post issue is on github.
Thanks also for raising the point about the licence, we will think about it. In the future we would like to separate the licence and repositories for the core Polymer and the readers, which should facilitate the management of pull requests concerning the readers.
Cheers,
François
